(Deadline) E! has ordered eight episodes of Catching Kelce, a dating competition series starring Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, for premiere later this year.
Fifty eligible women, one from each state in the U.S. will be invited to Los Angeles as Kelce searches for that special someone to become his lifelong “teammate.” Kelce will be joined by famous friends and family to help him along his journey, but in the series finale, only he can decide who is the right woman for him. The dating series has a twist, though. While Kelce will be deciding who stays in the house and who is sent home along the way, the women are able to strategically decide who is attending the all-important group dates. The debate becomes: do you pick your friends and keep those loyalties strong, or choose the “weakest” contenders to make yourself stand out? Lines will be drawn and friendships will be tested as the women pick and choose who gets the extra time with this football superstar.
“On top of being a well-respected athlete, Travis has a fun-loving, over the top personality that draws people to him, and we are excited to give our viewers an up-close look at his search for love,” said Jeff Olde, EVP, Programming and Development, E!.
In his first full year on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce had 67 catches, 862 yards, and five touchdowns to lead all the Chiefs, while his 503 yards after catch led all NFL tight ends. In 2014 and 2015, Kelce was a top vote getter for “Touchdown Dance of the Year.” Off the field, the NFLPA has named him one of their “Community Players of the Year.” Dedicated to his charity Eighty-Seven & Running, Travis spends much of his time working with less fortunate kids throughout the city.
Travis Kelce just capitalizing on his really good year this season by getting into the reality tv dating show game. These days its all about building your own brand and to do that you need to get your name out there. He’s already a known to football fans particularly the fantasy crowd but to really crossover he would need something like this to show a whole different demographic who he is.
A couple of missteps I am seeing here is why have one girl from each state? I would gladly take twenty girls from Texas/Cali/New York and some wildcards from Florida over one from Idaho or the rest of those flyover states. Not hating on the states but just a numbers game. Everyone knows there are more attractive, fun girls in states that have a coastline and thats just fact. He will be missing out on knockouts in Cali just to get a few 6’s from Wisconsin and North Dakota, it ain’t right. Just proves to me that Kelce needs a better team around him if this got by him. There is only one loser here and that is Travis Kelce just hindering himself finding love with the wrong contestants.
The article failed to mention that Kelce just singed a 5yr extension worth 46 million with 20 mil guaranteed. So its not all bad for your boy ,even if on the off chance he doesn’t find love he will have made himself known to most of the women in America and vastly helped himself off the field. Everything just keeps coming up Kelce.
